Non-Surgical Gum Treatments

Also called deep cleaning, is to remove bacteria, calculus (tartar), and debris collected below gum line by performing scaling and root planing (root of tooth smoothed and shaped to remove bacteria) after local anesthetic (numbing). Antimicrobials or antibiotics may be recommanded to be applied locally for healing. Gum disease is the major cause of bone loss and accounts for about 70% of all tooth loss in adults. Tooth Decay Prevention

To paint sealants on the chewing surfaces of teeth to protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay. Sealants can usually protect teeth from decay for 5 - 10 years before needing replacement, but they need to be checked for chipping or wearing at regular dental check-ups.
